Custom kitchens, wardrobes and joinery for the Sutherland Shire - designed, built and installed with over 12 years of local experience
A walk-in wardrobe turns a spare corner or dedicated room into an organised dressing space, and it is a natural fit for the larger family homes on the Shire's bushland edge. We design and build made-to-measure walk-in robes for homes across the Sutherland Shire, from renovated Sylvania houses to generous blocks in Menai, Engadine and Kareela near the Royal National Park. Every walk-in is measured in your home and planned around your clothing, shoes and accessories, using open shelving, hanging runs, drawers and, where you want it, an island bench. Steve Smith and our team build the joinery from quality board, fit soft-close hardware, and finish it in melamine, laminate or a premium two-pac. You receive a fixed, itemised quote before any work starts, so the scope and cost are clear from the outset.

Walk-in robes are usually built in one of a few layouts, including single-wall, L-shaped, U-shaped and, in larger rooms, a design with a central island. The right layout depends on the shape of the room and how much you need to store. We plan a mix of open and closed storage, with long and double hanging, adjustable shelving, banks of drawers, shoe shelving and space for bags and accessories. In premium fit-outs, feature elements such as an island bench with drawers, glass-fronted cabinets or integrated lighting can lift the space. Bushland-edge homes at Menai and Kareela often have the floor area for a full dressing room, while renovated suburban homes may convert a small bedroom or nook. The layout is drawn around your wardrobe rather than a fixed kit.

We begin with a free in-home measure so the joinery is built to the exact dimensions of the room or recess. The cabinetry and shelving are built from quality board, usually melamine or laminate for a durable, easy-to-clean interior, with drawer fronts and any doors finished in your chosen material. Soft-close hinges and runners are fitted as standard, the kind of quality hardware buyers recognise from makers such as Blum and Hettich. Where you want a more premium look, we can add a two-pac finish, feature shelving or an island bench. The joinery is built in our workshop and scribed to your walls on site for a clean, integrated result. Our own team carries out the installation rather than passing it to a subcontractor.

A walk-in robe is a bigger, more detailed fit-out than a standard built-in, and twelve years of local joinery experience helps us plan it well. We give you a fixed, itemised quote so the cost of the joinery, drawers, hardware and installation is clear before you commit. Our team is fully insured with twenty million dollars of public liability cover, and we install with our own tradespeople. We stand behind our workmanship, and manufacturer warranties apply to the hardware and materials we fit. Because we work across the Shire, we can build a walk-in as part of a wider renovation or on its own. You deal with the same local team from first measure to final handover.

Walk-in wardrobe pricing varies widely because it depends on the size of the room, the amount of drawers and shelving, the finish and any feature elements, so every figure is a guide. As a rough indication, many walk-in fit-outs fall somewhere around $5,000 to $15,000, with a simple single-wall layout at the lower end and a full dressing room with an island and two-pac finish higher up. Drawers, glass-fronted cabinets and integrated lighting all add to the cost. A free measure-and-quote is the only accurate way to price your own room, and we itemise each element so you can see the breakdown. If the budget is set, we can adjust the fit-out to match it. There is no obligation after the quote.

Flat-pack walk-in systems can suit a simple, square room and a modest budget, and they are a reasonable starting point for some homes. Their limitation shows in the larger, irregular dressing rooms common in the Shire's bigger homes, where standard modules leave gaps and rarely use the full height. A custom walk-in is measured to your room and built to fill it, with the interior planned around your own clothing and habits. You also skip the drive to IKEA at Tempe or Rhodes and the work of assembling and fitting a system yourself. For a dedicated dressing room or an oddly shaped space, a bespoke build makes far better use of the area. It also lets you choose finishes that match the rest of the home.

Custom bathroom vanities built for Sutherland Shire homes, in HMR moisture-resistant board with soft-close drawers and a finish to match your bathroom. Measured, made and installed by our own team, with a fixed quote before we start.

We start with a free in-home visit anywhere in the Shire, taking accurate measurements and talking through how you want the space to work. From there we develop the design and material choices, then hand you a fixed, itemised quote covering finishes and hardware. You can review the layout and pricing in full before deciding to go ahead, with no obligation to proceed.

Once the design and quote are approved, your cabinetry is made to measure in our own workshop rather than assembled from off-the-shelf modules. We select materials to suit the room, using moisture-resistant HMR board for wet areas like kitchens, laundries and vanities, and quality soft-close hardware throughout. Building locally means we can tailor every cabinet to the exact space it is going into, so it fits the way older and irregular Shire rooms actually are.

When your joinery is ready, our own insured team handles the installation, so the people fitting it are accountable for the finished result. We work cleanly and carefully in your home, level and adjust every unit, and check that doors, drawers and soft-close mechanisms run as they should. Before we leave, we walk you through the finished cabinetry so you are happy with how it looks and works.
Not necessarily, though they suit the larger family homes common on the Shire's bushland edge at Menai, Engadine and Kareela. In smaller homes we can often convert a spare bedroom, a deep nook or an underused corner into a compact walk-in. The key is planning the layout to make the most of whatever floor space is available. We will assess the room at the free measure and tell you honestly what will fit.
Yes, this is a popular renovation in established Shire homes around Miranda, Caringbah and Sylvania, where a spare bedroom is turned into a dressing room. We plan hanging, shelving, drawers and shoe storage around the room's shape, and can add an island bench if there is space. The conversion can be kept simple or finished to a premium standard. We will design it around how you use your wardrobe.
No. Engineered stone has been banned nationally in Australia since 1 July 2024, with importation prohibited from 1 January 2025, because of the silicosis risk to workers. If you want a benchtop on a walk-in island, we can use a compliant material such as natural stone, porcelain, timber or laminate. Many island tops are finished in the same board as the joinery for a seamless look. We will talk through the options at quote stage.
We plan the interior around your wardrobe, combining long and double hanging, adjustable shelving, banks of drawers, dedicated shoe storage and space for bags and accessories. Optional extras include an island bench with drawers, glass-fronted cabinets, pull-out rails and integrated lighting where they suit the space and budget. The aim is a room that keeps everything visible and easy to reach. Tell us what you own and we will design the layout to suit.
A walk-in works well in coastal homes around Cronulla, Woolooware and Port Hacking, though bedrooms and dressing rooms are usually dry areas rather than wet zones. Where the joinery sits near an ensuite or damp area, we can specify moisture-resistant board, while being clear that no board is waterproof. We also take sensible care with hardware in beachside homes. We will advise on suitable materials for your particular room.
Because a walk-in is a larger fit-out, the timeframe depends on the size, the amount of drawers and shelving and the finish, so we give you a realistic estimate rather than a fixed promise. As a general guide, most walk-in robes are completed within a number of weeks from approved design, including the workshop build. We will outline the stages when we quote. If it is part of a wider renovation, we will coordinate the timing with the other trades.
