A railway suburb on the edge of the world's second-oldest national park

Engadine owes its shape to two dates. The Royal National Park on its southern doorstep was proclaimed in 1879, the second-oldest national park in the world after Yellowstone, and it still walls off the southern edge of the suburb in unbroken bushland.
